The Tender Bar (2021)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - December 22nd, 2021 - Movie Reviews

There’s nothing provocative about The Tender Bar. Even the bits that fell flat didn’t do so in a way that were so egregious I could get angry about them. I just wish that Clooney and Monahan had brought more to the production than just a general easygoing vibe that refuses to challenge and goes out of its way to not offend.

Werewolves Within is likely going to make my 2021 top ten list. It’s great.

A Castle for Christmas (2021)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - December 3rd, 2021 - Movie Reviews

A Castle for Christmas may be slight, but that doesn’t make it minor, and as yuletide presents go, this is one gift I’m happy I took the time to unwrap.

Encanto (2021)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - November 24th, 2021 - Movie Reviews

Encanto earns its tears, this aria to familial togetherness a loving concerto of community I’d happily hum along with whenever the opportunity to do so might arise.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - November 17th, 2021 - Movie Reviews

Ghostbusters: Afterlife makes more good calls than bad, and for some viewers, when there’s something strange going on in the neighborhood, giving this legacy sequel a look might be the way to go.

Jungle Cruise (2021) (Blu-ray)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - November 16th, 2021 - Blu-ray and DVD

Jungle Cruise does work better at home. It’s kind of the perfect watch-while-folding-laundry movie. I guess that’s a recommendation.

Red Notice (2021)

I gave Red Notice my full attention, and all it gave me back was a headache.

Ron’s Gone Wrong (2021)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - October 20th, 2021 - Movie Reviews

Ron’s Gone Wrong’s points are seldom made with any certainty, and everything builds to a strange conclusion that comes perilously close to being the literal definition of “mixed messaging.”

The Addams Family 2 (2021)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - October 1st, 2021 - Movie Reviews

I did not like The Addams Family 2. I did not like it at all. And that’s all I have to say on the matter.
