Of all of the Laika films that the studio has released since 2009’s Coraline, I think ParaNorman has aged the best.

Strange World is a gloriously weird adventure that’s like the ungainly love child of a Dr. Seuss storybook melded with Fantastic Voyage that revels in the goofy cosmic sensibilities of a random episode of the classic 1960s television series Lost in Space.

Most importantly, kids are going to love The Rise of Gru, and while that’s not surprising, that their parents might find themselves giggling right along with their youngsters somewhat is.

Lightyear is nonsense, but it is frequently enthralling nonsense.

There is something undeniably wholesome about The Bob’s Burgers Movie, the warmth, love, and positivity that it exudes filling my soul with joy even if I knew some of the references and inside jokes were flying over my head.

The Bad Guys is an awful lot of fun.

Turning Red is a miracle of storytelling genius. It will be one of the best films of 2022. Heck, it may turn out to be one of the best I’ve seen the remainder of this decade.

I really didn’t like The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, not at all, and I can’t wait to never think about it ever again.
