Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - February 18th, 2022 - Movie Reviews

As stupendously staged as the gore-drenched violence may be, this new Texas Chainsaw Massacre still turned my stomach for all the wrong reasons.

Superhost (2021) (Blu-ray)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - February 1st, 2022 - Blu-ray and DVD

Superhost is a lot of fun primarily thanks to Gracie Gillam’s effervescently larger-than-life performance overflowing in unhinged villainy.

Ditched (2021)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - January 21st, 2022 - Movie Reviews

This is one of those times where I wanted to enjoy the finished product far more than I actually did, and in some ways that makes Ditched even more disappointing than it would have been had it just been terrible from the jump.

WarHunt (2022)

WarHunt is firing blanks, and any magic it may have had vanishes at roughly the halfway mark, never to return.

Scream (2022)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - January 13th, 2022 - Movie Reviews

I liked Scream. I had a lovely time watching it. I was also not anywhere near as enamored with the film as I have been the previous sequels, most notably Scream 2 and Scream 4.

The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - December 22nd, 2021 - Movie Reviews

The toil and trouble of mounting something this surrealistically ambitious pays off, and as the fire burns and the cauldron bubbles, the charm of Coen’s adaptation is firm and good. Heck, I’d go so far as to call The Tragedy of Macbeth downright spectacular.

Nightmare Alley (2021)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - December 17th, 2021 - Movie Reviews

Guillermo del Toro’s ambitious adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel Nightmare Alley might be the most visually stunning motion picture I’ve seen this year. If only I felt the same about the film’s emotional components.
