Sausage Party (2016)
by Sara Michelle Fetters - November 10th, 2016 - Blu-ray and DVDI still don’t get it. While Sausage Party has some amusing bits, personally the comedy doesn’t do a lot for me. I just don’t laugh, at least not a lot, trying to watch it again for a second time a far more lugubrious affair than I expected it to be.

Nerve (2016)
by Sara Michelle Fetters - October 26th, 2016 - Blu-ray and DVDNerve doesn’t work, but it does have a number of solid moments, while Roberts delivers one of the better performances of her still young career. Lionsgate’s Blu-ray presentation is solid across the board, and I seriously doubt fans will be even moderately disappointed if they choose to add the title to their personal libraries.

Angels & Demons (2009)
by Sara Michelle Fetters - October 13th, 2016 - Blu-ray and DVDUnlike The Da Vinci Code, my opinion of Angels & Demons has actually improved over the years. The film is fluff, but it can be enjoyable fluff, and I do find lots to love about the first two-thirds. But the climax is an abomination, that hasn’t changed, and as such any goodwill that has developed in 2009 still hasn’t grown enough to make get the bad taste out of my mouth of those final 20 minutes.

The Da Vinci Code (2006) – 10th Anniversary Edition
by Sara Michelle Fetters - October 13th, 2016 - Blu-ray and DVDMy opinion of The Da Vinci Code has not improved over the last decade. If anything, watching it again I realized I was much too kind back in 2006, this movie a badly paced misfire that’s almost impossible to sit through start to finish. It just isn’t very good, and the fact it has now spawned two sequels over a ten year period is kind of astonishing if you ask me.

Blood Father (2016)
by Sara Michelle Fetters - October 11th, 2016 - Blu-ray and DVDBlood Father really is pretty darn good. It just works, especially the second time around, Richet guiding Gibson to deliver one of his most soulful, knowingly raw performances of his entire career.

Ghostbusters (2016)
by Sara Michelle Fetters - October 11th, 2016 - Blu-ray and DVDDistanced from all the whack-a-do online craziness, Ghostbusters does stand on its own, proving to be a very entertaining comedy anchored by four talented actresses each having a blast bringing this supernatural whirligig of a world to life.

The Shallows (2016)
by Sara Michelle Fetters - September 27th, 2016 - Blu-ray and DVDThe Shallows is really entertaining. I don’t have a lot more to add. It’s just a lot of fun to watch. That’s it.

Chopping Mall (1986) – Vestron Video Collector’s Series
by Sara Michelle Fetters - September 20th, 2016 - Blu-ray and DVDWhile a definite product of its era, Wynorski and Mitchell’s labor of love has held up remarkably well over the past 30 years, filled with imaginative bits of whimsy and inspiration fans of this sort of thing can’t help but love. Lionsgate kicking of their Vestron Video series with Chopping Mall is a stroke of genius, and if I’m being honest this might actually be one of my absolute favorite Blu-ray releases of the entire year.

The Conjuring 2 (2016)
by Sara Michelle Fetters - September 13th, 2016 - Blu-ray and DVDThe Conjuring 2 is a solid sequel, but also one that is much too long and repeats itself far more often than it should. Still, there’s lots to like here, not the least of which continues to be the wonderful performances of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren. Warner’s Blu-ray is a strong one, and for fans of the film this disc comes highly recommended.
