Amulet (2020)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - July 24th, 2020 - Movie Reviews

Amulet is a distinctly feminist journey where answers only reveal additional questions, and doing the so-called “right thing” could lead to ghastly unforeseen events born of entitled selfishness that are both heinous and unforgivable all at the same time.

Scoob! (2020) (4K Ultra HD)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - July 21st, 2020 - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and DVD

Scoob! is a decidedly mixed bag, and while it was moderately fun to see a potential Hanna-Barbera universe take shape, this film is still too slapdash and rough around the edges to be consistently entertaining for any viewer over the age of eight or so.

You Don’t Nomi (2019) (Blu-ray)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - July 21st, 2020 - Blu-ray and DVD

You Don’t Nomi is fast-paced and never takes itself too seriously, it’s 90-plus minutes flying by so quickly I was almost a little shocked when the doc came to an end.

Relic (2020)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - July 10th, 2020 - Movie Reviews

Relic is a singularly magnetic motion picture that burrows under the skin leaving a lasting scar, the hushed uncertainty of the devastation left behind in its wake impossible to forget.

Homewrecker (2019)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - July 9th, 2020 - Movie Reviews

Homewrecker is one heck of an entertaining foray into psychologic discombobulation, everything building to a shockingly gruesome climax I honestly didn’t see coming.

I didn’t realize just how much I needed director Dawn Porter’s latest documentary John Lewis; Good Trouble until it was over.

The Outpost (2020)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - July 3rd, 2020 - Movie Reviews

The Outpost wrecked me, and when it was over I was so exhausted and had gone through so many tissues I needed to slap a little water in my face to regain my composure.

Dream Demon (1988) (Blu-ray)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - June 30th, 2020 - Blu-ray and DVD

While undeniably a product of its time (and limited budget), Dream Demon is still a fascinating gem of a suspense flick, Arrow doing a stupendous job in bringing this title to Blu-ray.

Beats (2019)

by Sara Michelle Fetters - June 26th, 2020 - Movie Reviews

Beats is more than a visual or musical showcase, it’s a character-driven one as well, the events of this crazy night back in 1994 not nearly as divorced from today’s protest-charged reality as casual viewers might initially surmise.
