Battleship is pure cheese, and while that doesn’t make it good that also doesn’t make it a disaster, and while the proceedings are certainly waterlogged beyond repair that doesn’t mean the vessel itself is in danger of sinking.

All I can say is that I hope Whedon does return to the helm, because after this movie the thought of The Avengers assembling without his assertively assured guidance is something I have difficulty pondering.

I was blown away by The Hunger Games.

Contagion coughs up several scares and makes the fantastical feel unbearably believable.

Terrence Malick’s fifth motion picture The Tree of Life is a breathless cinematic miracle that’s unlike anything else I’ll see in all of 2011.

Predators is a lot of fun, and as matinee entertainment, the film does deliver most of the requisite goods.

Like the original Iron Man 2 is a movie I don’t particularly mind but don’t exactly love, either, and if I didn’t say that in so many words in regards to the first film not doing so as far as this sequel goes isn’t a mistake I plan on making twice.

Even with its simplistic plot, Avatar is a stunning achievement in next-level cinematic bravado. Watch it on the biggest screen possible. Prepare to be blown away.

This new Hulk might have its moments and the character might still have his angry superpowers, but that doesn’t make the film anything close to incredible.
