30 Days of Night is a marvelously bloodcurdling horror show I can’t wait to sink my teeth into again.
Resident Evil: Extinction is an old-fashioned, soda-slurping, popcorn-munching, R-rated good time and, the last time I checked, the laws against that sort of thing happily registered between zero and none.
Zodiac might just end up being Fincher’s masterpiece, and I’ll be curious to see how it withstands the test of time as I’m all but certain this is one thriller we’ll all be waxing poetic about for decades to come.
Few films are either as magical or as enchanting as Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth. At the same time, few fairy tales are as perverse, terrifying or as deeply disturbing.
All of which makes The Grudge 2 an insidious mixed bag of thrills and chills, and I’m just not sure the good elements outweigh the bad ones near enough to make watching it in a theatre worthwhile.
The Descent is a freefall into fear not to be missed.
House of Wax is cruelly juvenile in ways that worked for me, and as far as Dark Castle’s current run of bloody horror remakes are concerned, this might just be their best one yet.
The Grudge works, and I’ve got the sweaty palms to prove it.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse is pretty awful, and if this ends up being game over for the budding franchise I wouldn’t be at all surprised.
